In the wake of the death of Lou Reed on 27/10/2013, Benjamin Bland takes a look back at his life and the reasons Reed, and his band The Velvet Underground, are considered so influential and important to the last 50 years of popular music. Featuring his music and audio clips from interviews throughout his life, the focus is on his most productive period, the late 1960s, assessing how this anti establishment figure rose from obscurity during this time to become a cult icon by his death.
