The front row at the Burberry 2013 fashion show

With men’s fashion week starting next month designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Tommy Hilfiger are harking back to a time when their front row was full of editors, buyers and stylists, who had a professional interest in the brand. Celebrities and other public figures are not being invited or allowed to attend shows unless they have a personal interest or connection with the brand as designers are condemning celebrities for turning their shows into a media circus that only focuses on them.

0 A Fuax Fur is for life, not just for Christmas

Lauren Witherspoon

Top Shop’s homage to fashion icon Cruella deVil has got me all overcome with puppy love. Ok the fictional character was all kinds of evil with her ideas on how to achieve this spotty look, but Top Shop have created this beautiful alternative. At £98.00 make sure you're as besotted with it as me.

Choosing the fur that suits you starts with one easy decision; go fake! Fuax fur jackets are so impressive just now, and a lot cheaper than the real thing, not to mention lacking the

animal cruelty involved in the fur trade. I love animals, especially furry ones.

Last winter I invested in a faux fur from Debenhams at a very reasonable £100, and that bad boy did not get locked away in the overflow wardrobe (the garage) until March. It’s safe to say it earned its appearance fee. So I’ve decided to put together my top tips for buying a lasting fuax fur.

  1. They key is to be uncontroversial – You’ll not get the use of it if it only goes with one zany outfit. This is a costly mistake. You have been warned.
  2. Be prepared to spend – £100 may seem like a lot to spend on one purchase but see it as an investment. You can’t complain when you cheap alternatives look dreadful after a challenging weather situation, or worse fall apart.
  3. Shop for your size. If you’re a bigger girl stick to chinchilla shades, whereas thinner ladies will get away with fox red.
  4. Accessorise your fuax fur accordingly. For a winter wonderland feel go with a pair of Ugg boots, some knitted winter headgear and fingerless gloves. When it comes to hitting the town I prefer to bling up so big jewelery, chunky wedges and wear your faux fur hanging on the shoulders. P.I.M.P
  5. And not to sound like your mum, but look after it. Regular trips to the dry cleaners and making the effort to hang your coat up properly after a night out will help to prolong its life. Remember a fuax fur isn’t just for Christmas!

I hope you find these tips useful if you’re in the market for a faux fur. Check out some of my favourites that are lighting up the high street just now.

Next time: Glam party dressess and seductive eye make-up. Bye for now, Lauren.

Star by Julian Macdonald have brought out this beauty that is perfect for the curvy girl. Black is a slimming colour as we all know, but it’s also glam. This is the perfect faux fur for both a winter’s day out and Christmas party season. Wear it belted during the day, and hanging open at night to show of your party dress. £110.00 at Debenhams.
For a warmer look, go for H&M’s version of the fox fur. Not too bold but still looks best on the slimmer figure. A bargain at £39.99.
